The Ocean: Most and Least Lasting of Experiences
“So when Krsna says in the Bhagavad-gita, “These material elements,” bhumir apo ‘nalo vayuh [Bg. 7.4], earth, water, fire, air, they are My energies, so if one has studied Krsna, then as soon as He sees a great ocean, He sees Krsna: “Oh, this is Krsna’s energy.” As soon as sees a big anything, fire, […]

“Thing Language” by Jack Spicer
This ocean, humiliating in its disguises
Tougher than anything.
No one listens to poetry. The ocean
Does not mean to be listened to. A drop
Or crash of water. It means
Nothing.
It
Is bread and butter
Pepper and salt. The death
That young men hope for. Aimlessly
It pounds the shore. White and aimless signals. No
One listens to poetry.

Tears of rain
Today it is raining here in sunny California, and so I thought I would write a few words.
tears can wash away the dust
from traversing life’s weary road
just as the rain cleanses and
washes the dust from the earth
where it is carried to the ocean to be
recycled and reused
to form mountains in some distant millenium
Rain keeps things moving
preventing stagnation and drought
just as tears can move us through grief and anger
and onto something new and beautiful in our lives

love
All things are fleeting in this world
yet bonds of love
remain
forever
etched into the soul
playing a melody
of union and separation
that
like an elastic band
stretch
and
grow our love
